Uz Novogodišnje i Božićne čestitke 2024. godine, odlučio sam da najavim ovogodišnje mogućnosti za naručivanje mušičarskih štapova koji se mogu uraditi.

In addition to 2024 Season’s Greetings, I have decided to announce this year’s opportunities for ordering fly fishing rods that could be crafted.

Tokom prethodne dve godine pokazalo se da je svega nekoliko štapova naručivano sa iskazivanjem želja u pogledu elemenata za ugrađivanje u njh, dok je većina bila naručena tako što je meni bilo prepušteno da odlučim o tome (i zahvaljujem na poverenju) ili su kupljeni kao već gotovi i ponuđeni štapovi. Reakcije na sve urađene štapove bile su dosad dobre. Ovi pozivom namera mi je bila da zainteresovane mušičare podsetim na mogućnost da izaberu elemente koje žele i tako dobiju štap koji im najviše odgovara i po osobinama važnim u ribolovu, i estetski.

In the past two years of crafting rods, only few of them were ordered with the specifications of elements that customers wanted me to build, while the majority of them was either ordered allowing me to decide about that (and thank you for reliance), or were bought as already finished and offered for sale. Feedback on all rods delivered so far was good. My intention was to remind fly fishermen (and ladies) on an opportunity of choosing elements they want and get the rod that is most suitable to them both regarding the features related to fishing and the aesthetics.

Svi blankovi koji su na raspolaganju i predstavljeni na posebnoj stranici već su pripremljeni za izradu nalaženjem i označavanjem „kičme“. Oni se razlikuju po tehnološkom nivou (i cenom), ali svi su se pokazali vrlo dobrim u svojim AFTMA klasama i čekaju na odluku kupaca o tipu (jednostopni ili dvostopni „snake“) i u vezi s tim o broju provodnika koji treba da se vežu. Uvek sam zagovornik prve mogućnosti jer jedno mesto učvršćenja provodnika čini blank mnogo manje krutim nego dva a manje epoksidnog premaza čini štap malo lakšim, što je značajno u posebnim slučajevima, kao što su štapovi manjih AFTMA klasa, kraći štapovi ili štapovi koji su urađeni od nešto težih blankova. Međutim, tradicionalni dvostopni „snake“ provodnici još uvek imaju dosta pristalica i potpuno je legitimno izabrati ih. Izbor boja (srebrni-hromirani ili dimno-sivi) stvar je estetike, mada to obično (ali ne i obavezno) nameće slaganje sa bojom drugih elemenata hardvera štapa.

All blanks which are currently at disposal and listed at distinct page have been already prepared for crafting by finding and marking the spine. They differ for their technological level (and price), but they all have proven as very good in their line weight (i.e., the AFTMA) classes. They are waiting customer’s decision about the type (single-, or double-foot snake) and consequently the number of guides that are to be winded. I always recommend the former alternative. One fixing spot makes section of the blank less rigid than two of them and less epoxy coating results in slightly lighter rod, which is important in specific cases, e.g., in rods of the lesser line weight classes, shorter rods, or those built on the heavier blanks. However, the traditional snake guides still have many aficionados and that choice is legitimate. Their colour (silvery chrome and gunsmoke grey) is a matter of aesthetics and usually of matching to other hardware’s colour.

Tip držača čekrka i u pogledu aluminijumskog hardvera i u pogledu drvenog umetka treba razmotriti prema njegovoj ukupnoj težini, jer on utiče na uravnoteženost štapa i na komfor ribolovca-mušičara na vodi. Pošto su trenutno dostupna bar tri tipa hardvera držača čekrka različite težine, naručilac se može posavetovati direktno sa mnom o tome koji bi najviše odgovarao blanku za koji se odlučio, kao i o mogućnostima da naruči i druge tipove , i dodatnim troškovima da do njih dođe. Za svaki od ovih tipova hardvera dostupan je širok raspon drvenih umetaka, kako fabričkih, tako i iz samogradnje, što je već navedeno i na odgovarajućoj stranici ovog sajta.

The type of reel seat, both regarding its aluminium hardware and wooden insert should be considered regarding its overall weight, because it impacts the balance of the rod and the comfort of fly fisherman on the water. Since there are currently at least three types of reel sets’ hardwares of various weights available, a customer could be advised about the most appropriate one for the blank he has chosen, as well as about opportunities to order also other types, although with the additional cost of getting them. For each of those hardware types, a wide range of wooden inserts, both factory- and custom-made is available, as already given on the page listing them.

Ovogodišnja sezona mušičarenja ulazi u svoj poslednji mesec. U članku su prikazana tri štapa (#12, #13 i #14) urađena ove godine. To je relativno mali broj, a mogući razlog tome je relativno težak ribolov zbog trenutnog stanja na ribolovnim vodama. Uslovi za život pastrmki i lipljena bili su nepovoljni usled visokih temperatura i slabog protoka, što snižava količinu kiseonika u vodi. Vodostaji su bili toliko niski da se samo na većim rekama u smiraj dana ribe javljaju aktivnije i na nimfu, i na suve mušice u vreme kasnog i dosta oskudnog rojenja maslinastih jednodnevki. Manje reke bile su sa malo vode, bistre i teške za ribolov do pred sam mrak. Nema mnogo nade da će do kraja septembra biti jačih padavina, znatnijeg priliva vode i poboljšanja uslova za mušičarenje. Ostaje nada da će vremenske prilike i uslovi za život riba, a time i za ribolov iduće godine biti bolji.

This year’s fly fishing season enters into its last month. Three fly fishing rods (#12, #13 i #14) crafted this year are shown here. That is a small number and a reason for that might be the relatively slow fishing, due to current circumstances at fishing venues . Life conditions for trout and grayling were unfavourable, owing to high temperature and slowed water current, which decreases a content of dissolved oxygen. Water levels were such low that fish feed in dawn only at large rivers, both taking nymph and rising on dries when blue winged olives sparsely hatch. Smaller streams were low in water, gin-clear and difficult for fishing until the late dawn and early evening. It is likely that there will be neither sound rainfalls, nor the water level rise till the end of September. It remains to hope that next year the weather and life conditions for fish and hence for fishing also will be better.
