Gotovi mušičarski štapovi izuzetno su raznovrsni – pokrivaju ceo spektar mušičarenja. Kvalitet im je dobar ako im je i cena takva-to je neizbežno tesno povezano. Poznate robne marke svojom garancijom, često doživotnom za originalnog kupca, potvrđuju svoj kvalitet, ali to uslovljava jako dobru cenu. Ima i štapova nižih cenovnih rangova koji zaslužuju pažnju, ali njihov izbor nije veliki. Namera ovog preduzetništva je da proba da pomiri prihvatljiv kvalitet i cenu posebno izrađenog mušičarskog štapa urađenog prema posebnim potrebama mušičara našeg podneblja od materijala dostupnog na tržištu. Za mušičare najmlađeg uzrasta moguće je po prihvatljivoj ceni napraviti vrlo solidan prvi štap kojim će naučiti osnove mušičarenja. Tom štapu, ako preživi obuku i uzrast vlasnika vraćaće se možda i kasnije, kao odrasli, u određenim prilikama.

Retki su proizvođači (npr. Sage, Thomas & Thomas, Winston, Scott i donekle Orvis i Hardy) koji sve ili većinu štapova koje prave rade od najsavremenijih blankova izrađenih od tehnološki najsavremenijeg grafita i smola. Bar oni tako tvrde. Ti štapovi imaju vrlo visoku cenu. Većina proizvođača pravi široku lepezu modela štapova različite cene, dostupne kupcima različite kupovne moći. Za određenu cenu, kupac takvog štapa dobija korektno zanatski urađen štap po ceni koja može dosta da premaši kvalitet ugrađenih komponenti. Kupac ne može tu ništa bitno da promeni i plaća „brand“, ime firme koja mu garantuje besplatne popravke. Kod samogradnje, kupac plaća štap kome je imao priliku da sam odabere komponente od ponuđenih, po prihvatljivoj, fer ceni i da zna koliko je šta platio.

Ono što je, međutim, najvažnije, jeste da može da odabere blank određenog tehnološkog nivoa-kvaliteta, koji najviše utiče na cenu štapa, a po ceni blanka daleko nižoj od one koju pri određenju ukupne cene štapa računaju brendirani proizvođači. Tako se samogradnjom dobije štap istih dobrih karakteristika kao i brendiran po nižoj ceni i uz određenu sigurnost u pristojan vek trajanja štapa, npr. isporučivanjem rezervnog vrha štapa.

Fly fishing rods are very diverse and cover the whole spectrum of fly fishing. Their quality is high if their price is like that – that is inevitably closely related. Renowned brands with their guarantee, often lifetime for the original buyer, support that quality, but this is accompanied with the very high price. There are also cheaper fly fishing rods that deserve attention, though their choice is not great. The intention of this entrepreneurship is to try to reconcile the acceptable quality and price of a specially made fly fishing rods according to the special needs of the customers from the elements available on the market. For teenage fly fishermen it is possible to craft their very good first fly fishing rod at affordable price for learning the basics of fly fishing. They can turn back to that rod later in certain circumstances, if it has sustained its owner’s learning.

Rare are manufacturers (e.g. Sage, Thomas & Thomas, Winston, Scott and somewhat Orvis and Hardy) who work out all or most of the rods they make from state-of-the-art blanks made of technologically advanced graphite and resins. At least, they claim so. Those rods cost very much. Most of manufacturers make a wide range of models at different prices, available to buyers of different purchasing power. The buyer of each such rod receives a fairly crafted one at a price often exceeding the quality of the installed components. The buyer pays for the „brand“, i.e., the name of the company that guarantees repairs free of charge. In custom crafting, the buyer pays for the rod with an opportunity to choose components at the fair price, and knows how much he pays that.

What is most important, however, is that one can choose a blank of a certain technological level, i.e., quality, which mostly affects the price of the fly fishing rod that will still remain at the price far lower than that of branded manufacturers. In this way, one gets a fly fishing rod of the same good characteristics as branded at a lower price and a certainty about the decent rod’s lifetime, e.g. by delivering the spare tip section.

Naravno, savremeniji blankovi više koštaju, egzotičnije komponente takođe, pa se prilikom samogradnje može uštedeti, ali i razmahati novčanikom davanjem mašti na volju. To je već stvar naručioca. Uloga onog ko će raditi štap je da kakav god pristup je u pitanju-racionalan ili maštovit, pomogne da na kraju štap pričini zadovoljstvo u ribolovu.

Estetika je odlika ličnosti, pa je i izgled štapa stvar ličnog izbora elemenata koji se mogu uklapati ugradnjom, npr. držača čekrka, boje hardvera (provodnika i držača čekrka) i boje konca kojim su vezani provodnici. Kod samogradnje, mogućnosti za davanje lične estetske crte štapu su nesagledive, samo ako naručilac zna šta hoće i kako to uz malu pomoć može da postigne.

Izrada mušičarskog štapa počinje određenjem „kičme“ štapa, a završava se preciznim postavljanjem provodnika duž nje (ili nasuprot njoj), radi punog iskorišćenja njegovih bacačkih karakteristika i snage pri izvlačenju ulovljene ribe, uz očuvanje njegove celovitosti i funkcionalnosti. Dobar balans štapa izborom odgovarajućih komponenti isto tako je važan za ugodnost pri njegovom korišćenju. Ulovi koji štapove stavljaju pred izazove na našim rekama su retki. Na rekama Srbije pri mušičarenju potočne pastrmke i lipljena koriste se štapovi AFTMA klasa (tj. klasa mušičarske strune, označeno sa „#“) 2-6 različitih dužina.

Za početak, kvalitet izrade štapa rezultat je nastojanja da se on približi fabrički urađenim štapovima. Zasad nije bilo primedbi u tom pogledu. S vremenom, standardi su rasli, a s njima i izvedba izrade, što je vodilo ka posebnim štapovima, od kojih je svaki komad za sebe.

More modern blanks cost more, of course, as do the more exotic components, so one can save money on custom building, but also flailing the wallet by giving his imagination to the will. It’s up to the buyer. The role of the one who crafts the rod is to make it to give the same pleasure in fishing to each of the users, regardless the approach is rational or imaginative.

Aesthetics is a personality characteristics, so how the rod looks is a matter of personal choice of components, e.g. the reel seat, the colour of the hardware (guides and the reel seat) and of the winding thread for guides’ fixing. In custom building, the possibilities for giving a personal aesthetic dash to a rod are immense when the buyer knows what he wants.

Crafting of the fly fishing rods begins with the determination of the rod’s „spine“ and positioning of the guides along (or opposite to) it for the proper use of its casting and power characteristics, while preserving its integrity and functionality. The good balance of the rod by choosing the matching components is also important for its comfortable use. The catches that put rods in challenges on our rivers are rare, making their usability therefore more significant. On the streams of Serbia, in fly fishing for brown trout and grayling common rods are of AFTMA classes (i.e., fly line weights, marked „#“) 2-6, of various lengths.

Initially, the quality of the custom fly rod crafting resulted from an effort to get it closer to the factory-made ones. There were no objections about that, so far. But in time, the criteria raised and the crafting quality followed them, which ended in special rods, each a story of its own.

Svaki od štapova koji su urađeni proba se nakon izrade sa strunama za koje su deklarisani i onim koje su za klasu manje i veće. Svi urađeni blankovi odgovarali su deklarisanoj AFTMA klasi. Neki od njih prikazani u galeriji sajta pokazali su se i na vodi.

Štapovi koji su trenutno u ponudi prikazani su na odgovarajućoj stranici, a mogu se naručiti svi koji su prikazani na stranici dosad urađenih štapova. Većina njih su prodati ili su za sopstvenu upotrebu, ali se mogu uraditi u kratkom roku i sa modifikacijama (tip i boja provodnika, držač čekrka, boja konca kojima su vezani provodnici) po dogovoru sa naručiocem.

Each finished rod is tested using the fly fishing lines declared for its class and the ones lesser and bigger. All blanks conformed to their declared AFTMA classes. Some of them, as showed in the web site’s „Gallery“, were verified on streams, as well.

Rods that are currently at disposal are revealed at the distinct web page, while all of those shown at the page of rods crafted so far are available for ordering. Most of the latter ones are already sold, or used by myself, but every can be crafted in short time and with modifications (type and finish of guides, reel seat, thread colour) agreed with customer.
