Odluku da počnem da pravim sam mušičarske štapove doneo sam dosta impulsivno, nakon što sam shvatio da štap iz samogradnje koji sam dao da mi se napravi može osobinama, pa i izgledom da premaši jako dobre, ali nepristojno preskupe i nedostupne komercijalne-brendirane štapove. Za taj štap, nulti, odabrao sam IM12 blank, držač čekrka „gunsmoke“ hardvera sa umetkom od kamforovog drveta, dobar plutani rukohvat i jednostopne „gunsmoke“ provodnike i odneo kod odličnog majstora. Ono što sam dobio u ruke, #5, teško samo 93 g, ne samo da je bilo lepo, nego je pecanje tim štapom bilo i ostalo prava simfonija na vodi. Tad sam poželeo da naučim to da radim – da pravim mušičarske štapove i da istražujem kako se kombinovanjem raznih komponenti dobije nešto posebno, jedinstveno i možda i neponovljivo i za oči i za ruku. BIlo za sebe, ili za neke druge koji bi voleli takav štap.

Previous Craftings

Decision to make myself fly rods I made pretty impulsively, on realising that custom built fly fishing rod can surpass by its features and even by how it looks like very good, though obscenely expensive and unavailable branded fly rods. For that rod, which I denoted N^o 0, I have chosen myself the IM12 blank, gunsmoke reel seat with the golden camphor wood insert, fine cork handle and single-foot gunsmoke guides and took them to the renowned craftsman. I have got not only a handsome tackle of the #5, that was 93 g or 3.3 oz in weight, but the symphonic instrument in the stream playing each fish how I liked and I still do that. But then I wished to learn to do that – to make fly rods and to explore how to make something special, unique and maybe truly unrepeatable combining various components, both for eyes and for hand. Either for myself, or for others who would like such rod.

Svi štapovi koji su pravljeni za sebe ili druge testirani su radi sticanja utiska o tome kakvi su zaista i prave informacije koju bi kupci trebalo da imaju o njima.

All rods crafted for myself or others were tested, owing to acquiring an impression about them in reality and right information that customers should have about them.

Prvi štap N^o 1 koji sam pravio bio je klase #2, od IM8 blanka, 6ft 6in dužine, težine 47 g, sa kratkim plutanim rukohvatom „supreme“ klase, finim dvostopnim svetlo hromiranim provodnicima vezanim zelenim Gudebrod koncem klase A i „downlocking“ držačem čekrka sa kliznim prstenom u „gunsmoke“ završnoj obradi.

The first rod N^o 1 I crafted myself was of the IM8 blank of class #2, 6ft 6in in length and 47 g or 1.6 oz in weight, with the fine, short supreme-class cork grip, delicate snake guides in chrome finish winded using the green Gudebrod thread of the class A and downlocking cork reel seat with the sliding ring in gunsmoke finish.

Štap N^o 2 je nastao tako što je isključen donji deo i od četvorodelnog je napravljen trodelni, od blanka od IM6 grafita, klase #5, dužine 7ft, sa jakim dvostopnim hromiranim provodnicima vezanim debelim, jakim PacBay koncem klase „C“ jarko-crvene boje i diskretnim umetkom od namotaja metalik crvenog konca, sa plutanim rukohvatom oivičenim napred i nazad gumiranom plutom i sa metalnim držačem čekrka u „gunsmoke“ završnoj obradi. Urađen je radi prolećnog ribolova teškim nimfama na nabujalim manjim pastrmskim rekama. Našao je svog korsinika brzo.

Rod N^o 2 was made by excluding the but section and of the four-pieces IM6 blank the three-pieces rod was made, of class #5 and 7ft in length. It is equipped with the strong snake guides in chrome finish, winded using the thick and strong PacBay thread of the class „C“ in Candy Apple colour with the discrete metallic red thread inlay, the cork grip that is bordered in front and rear parts with the rubberised cork and with the all-metal reel seat in gunsmoke finish. It was worked out for early spring fishing with heavy nymphs on high-level small trout streams. It found its fisherman very quickly.

Štap N^o 3 pravio sam za sebe, od blanka od IM10 grafita od 9ft, #4 – najčešćeg za vode našeg područja, sa rezervnim vrhom. Jednostopni provodnici „gunsmoke“ završne obrade vezani su kestenjastim koncem Sea Hawk klase „A“, pluta rukohvata je AAA kvaliteta, a držač čekrka je sa umetkom od zlatnog kamforovog drveta sa hardverom „gunsmoke“ završne obrade. Tezak je 80 g. U „Galeriji“ su utisci o njemu.

The rod N^o 3 I made for myself, of the IM10 blank 9ft in length, of the #4 – the most common for trout streams in our region. The single-foot guides in gunsmoke finish are winded using the Sea Hawk chestnut thread of the class „A“. The cork of the grip is of the AAA class and the reel seat’s hardware is in the gunsmoke finish with the golden camphor wood insert. Its weight is 80 g, or 2.8 oz. It is already at the „Gallery“.

Štap N^o 4 je od IM6 blanka 9ft dužine klase #5, sa jednostopnim provodnicima i držačem čekrka svetlo hromirane završne obrade, sa umetkom od tamno obrađenog ružinog drveta Dahlbergia. Kod korisnika je na Drini.

The rod N^o 4 is made of the IM6 graphite blank 9ft in length and of the #5, with the single-foot guides and reel seat in light chrome finish and wood insert of the dark rosewood Dahlbergia. It is at its owner on the River Drina.

Čekajući delove za naručen štap, uradio sam štap N^o 5, od IM8 blanka modulusa 36T i #3/4, dužine 9ft, tamno-zelene boje, sjajne obrade, sa umetkom držača čekrka od tamno završenog ružinog drveta. Provodnici su dvostopni „snake“, lagani, svetlo hromirani, vezani Sea Hawk kestenjastim koncem klase A. Plutani rukohvat je AAA klase, oblika cigare. Štap je težak 90 g. Kod korisnika je u Pomoravlju i s novom sezonom očekuje se i utisak o njemu.

While waiting for components to assemble the ordered rod, I have made the rod N^o 5 of the IM8 modulus 36T and #3/4 9ft long glossy dark-green blank. The reel seat has dark rosewood insert. Light chrome-finished snake guides are winded with the Sea Hawk class A chestnut thread. Cigar-shape cork grip is of the AAA class. Weight is 90 g (3.2 oz). It is at his owner at River Velika Morava catchment and in a new season an impression about it is expected.

U međuvremenu, nakon prispeća svih delova dovršen je ranije naručen štap N^o 6, istovetnog blanka kao i štap N^o 3, ali sa dvostopnim provodnicima hromirane završne obrade, sa Gudebrod koncem A klase zelene boje i sa držačem čekrka hromirane završne obrade, sa drvenim umetkom od svetlog ružinog drveta i plutanim rukohvatom „supreme“ klase. Već je kod naručioca i stigao je u „Galeriju“ sa komentarom o njemu.

Meanwhile, previously ordered rod N^o 6 was finalised upon the arrival of all components. It is of the same blank as the rod N^o 3, but with the double-foot chrome-finished snake guides winded using the Gudebrod green A-class thread, with the reel seat in chrome finish, lightly finished rosewood insert and cork grip of the supreme class. It was delivered to its owner and comment and images on its action came to the „Gallery“.

Pre izrade naručenog, potpuno neplanirano, zbog iznenadno iskrsle prilike bio je započet nov četvorodelni metalik svetlo-zeleni štap, 8’6″, #5, od IM10 grafita, visokog modulusa 40T, za sopstvenu upotrebu. Bilo je najavljeno daleko putovanje na koje je takav štap trebalo da se ponese. Zgodan je zbog dužine pošto staje u prtljag koji ide avionom i može odlično da se uklopi u ribolov na odredištu. Završen je kao štap N^o 7, opremljen je jednostopnim provodnicima i nosačem čekrka hromirane završne obrade sa plutanim rukohvatom „supreme“ klase i umetkom od ružinog drveta u mahagoni obradi, a TAC konac je svetlo-maslinast (potamneo do smeđe-maslinastog posle primene epoksija) sa metalik svetlo-zlatnom bordurom samo na donjem delu štapa. Štap je težak 92 g. Osobine i utisci prikazani su u „Galeriji“.

Entirely beyond the order, owing to sudden opportunity arising, the new metallic-light green, four-piece rod 8’6″ in length, #5, of the IM10 graphite in a high modulus (40T) was started crafting for own use before the ordered one. A long distance trip was announced, to which such rod was to be taken. It is convenient for its length, being both packable in the flight luggage and fitting to special fishing on destination. It was finished as N^o 7 fly rod. It has single-foot guides and reel seat in chrome finish with the rosewood insert in mahogany finish and cork grip of the supreme class, while the guides’ TAC thread is light olive (darkened to brown-olive after applying epoxy) with the metallic-pale-golden trimming on the but section only. The weight of rod is 92 g, or 3.3 oz. Features and impressions are given in the „Gallery“.

Štap N^o 8 napravio sam za sostvenu upotrebu i od istog je blanka od kog je i štap N^o 0, samo je za klasu slabiji, #4. Oprema je gotovo identična: jednostopni „gunsmoke“ provodnici i konac Sea Hawk „maroon“ boje, kao i „gunsmoke“ hardver držača čekrka i plutani rukohvat AAA klase. Različit je drveni umetak od kineskog jakamiči drveta Ormosia i prva dva „stripping“ provodnika sa zlatnim prstenovima. Težina štapa je 85 g. U „Galeriji“ je njegov prikaz.

Rod N^o 8 that I crafted for myself is made using the blank of same features as the rod N^o 0, but of the one class lesser, i.e., #4. Components are almost same: single-foot gunsmoke guides, cork grip of the AAA class and maroon Sea Hawk thread. A difference is in the reel seat of the gunsmoke finish with the yakamichi-Chinese chicken wing tree Ormosia and two stripping guides with the golden inner rings. Rod’s weight is 85 g, or 3.0 oz. Its review is in the „Gallery“.

Štap N^o 10 je od IM10 mat-crnog četvorodelnog blanka modulusa 40T, dužine 10ft 6in i klase #3/4. To je štap za specijalistu – predviđen je za lov nimfom. Težak je 88 g. Plutani rukohvat je „half wells“, klase AAA. Provodnici su jednostopni, hromirane završne obrade, kao i hardver držača čekrka sa umetkom od drveta iz korena javora. Konac je Pacific Bay, crn, klase B, a bordure su od crno-zlatnog konca iste klase. Štap ima dodatni rezervni vrh. Kod korisnika je i stigli su njegova ocena i utisci.

Rod N^o 10 is made of IM10 matte black four-pieces blank of the high modulus 40T graphite, in a length of 10ft 6in and class #3/4. It is a rod for nymph fishing. Its weight is 88 g, or 3.1 oz. Cork of the half wells grip is of the AAA grade. Guides are single foot in chrome finish, as is a hardware of the reel seat with the maple root wood insert. Thread is Pacific Bay, black, of the class B, with the black-golden trimming. Rod has the spare tip section. It is at its owner and impression about it is available.

Štap N^o 11 je od sjajnog, zelenog blanka od IM8 grafita, modulusa 36T, klase #3/4, dužine 9ft, kao i štap N^o 5. Umereno je brze akcije, mada je zbog drugačijeg tipa i rasporeda provodnika posebno postavljenih za takav tip akcije nešto brži nego prethodni štap na istoj platformi (blanku). Može da bude univerzalni štap za veći deo sezone, posebno za ribolov suvom mušicom, ali je urađen pre svega zbog letnjeg ribolova lipljena. Provodnici su jednostopni, sjajni, stavljen je samo prvi „stripping“ provodnik, konac je Pacific Bay, tamno zeleni („Evergreen“), klase A, sa diskretnom maslinasto-braon bordurom. Rod N^o 11 is crafted using the glossy dark green IM8 blank of 36T modulus, of the #3/4 class, 9 ft in length, like the rod N^o 5. It is moderately fast, but slightly faster than the rod built on the same blank, owing to different type and spacing of guides specially designed for such rod’s action. It can be all-around rod for most of season, especially for dry fly fishing, but it will serve mainly for summer grayling fishing. Guides are in chrome finish, single foot, only first stripping guide is mounted, the thread is Pacific Bay Evergreen of the class A with the discrete olive-brown trimming. Reel seat is in chrome finish with the maple wood insert. All components were chosen to make the lightest rod as possible, weighting 86 g (3.1 oz). It was delivered to owner who reported her impressions in the „Gallery“ after the summer grayling fishing.

Štap N^o 12 napravljen je posle sledećeg, a objašnjenje za promenu numeracije dato je tamo. Urađen je na blanku IM10 modulusa 40T, dužine 8ft 6in. Rod N^o 12 is crafted after the next one and change in numbering is explained at the next rod’s preview. It was made on the IM10 blank of the modulus 40T, 8ft 6in in length. It is of the AFTMA class #4, fast in action, though of the very sensitive tip, similar to others made of this model of blank. Guides are single-foot, standard, in chrome finish, as is the reel seat hardware with the light hazel custom made wood insert. Only the first stripping guide is double foot. The class A medium olive winding thread darkened to charcoal colour after epoxy coating. The cork of the half wells grip is of the AAA class. Rod weight is 82 g (i.e., 2.9 oz).

Štap N^o 13 napravljen je od mat sivog IM12 blanka od Torayca grafita modulusa 50T, dužine 9 ft. Brze je akcije, klase #3. Provodnici su lagani, jednostopni, titanijum završne obrade, samo je prvi „stripping“ provodnik dvostopni, konac je plave boje (PacBay „Royal Blue“) klase A, sa metalik zlatnim Gudebrod umetcima. Držač čekrka je u boji šampanjca sa drvenim umetkom od orijentalnog platana. Plutani rukohvat od plute klase AA je „half wells“, nešto kraći od uobičajene dužine. Reel seat is in champaign finish, with the oriental plane tree custom made wood insert. The half wells cork grip of the AA class cork is slightly shorter than it is common. Owing to choosing the lightest possible components, the overall weight is 78 g (2.8oz). I crafted it for myself for the summer grayling fishing at low water level. It is deliberately numerated hoodoo-sensitively, in order to avoid other customer’s complaints when fishing is slow. It has already gone out on the water.

Reel seat is in chrome finish, with the light insert of the custom made field maple’s wood. The half wells cork grip is made of the AAA class cork. Rod’s weight is 90 g (i.e., 3.2 oz). It is a versatile, all-around fly fishing rod.

Single-foot guides in gunsmoke finish, winding thread is Pacific Bay’s Stay True „Mocha“ of the A class that excellently blends in blank’s colour, with the metallic copper inlays. Reel seat is in gunsmoke finish, with the custom made mulberry wood insert. The half wells cork grip is of the 1AAA class cork. Rod’s weight is 94 g (i.e., 3.3 oz). It is a strong fly fishing rod for fishing trout and grayling throughout the year, especially at high water levels and strong water current with the heaviest nymphs and streamers, and dries. It has found his owner and has begun living out.

Štap N^o 16 je od braon, mat IM12, četvorodelnog blanka od grafita modulusa 46T, dužine 9 ft. Brze je, ali fine akcije, klase #4, osetljivog vrha i sa finom rezervom snage. All guides are in gunsmoke finish, single-foot, only stripping is double foot with the golden alconite insert. Winding thread is TAC „Cappuccino“ of the A class with the colour preserver and metallic brass inlays, matching very nicely to the blank’s colour. Reel seat is in gunsmoke finish, with the custom made walnut wood insert. The half wells cork grip is of the 1AAA class cork. Rod’s weight is 78 g (i.e., 2.8 oz). It is a strong fly fishing rod convenient for fishing trout and grayling during a season of medium and low-water levels and moderate water current, with medium-heavy nymphs and streamers, and dries.

The half wells cork grip is made of the AAA class cork. Rod’s weight is 90 g (i.e., 3.2 oz). It is a versatile, all-around fly fishing rod throughout the year.
